There are ski resorts that will allow you to park your RV in the parking lot, making for a short trek to the slopes and your own space in the parking lot for après ski socializing. Some are free, while others charge a minimal fee. Here are some of the best spots in North America that provide such RV-friendly services:
Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort, Oregon
Located in the Cascade Mountain Range, Mt. Hood is the tallest peak in Oregon. This 11,250’ mountain offers some of the most spectacular and varied terrain in the Northwest.
Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort provides a limited number of overnight parking spaces for recreational vehicles. No utilities or services are available, so RVs and travel trailers must be self-contained. The spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis. The resort requires vehicles to purchase a parking permit and obtain an overnight parking permit.
The overnight RV parking area is in a specific area in the resort’s main lot. Stays are limited to three consecutive nights in a five-night period. You may be asked to move your vehicle if snow plowing is needed. Since no garbage facilities are available, be prepared to haul off your own trash.
Crystal Mountain, Washington
Crystal Mountain Resort is Washington’s largest ski resort, providing spectacular views of Mt. Rainier. Five active volcanoes are visible from the top of the gondola.
Crystal Mountain Resort offers on-site RV parking. The resort provides 40 sites with 30-amp electrical hook-ups. A limited number of sites without power are also available. There is a daily charge for camping with a 14-day limit for your stay. On-site RV hosts are around to make your stay more comfortable.
Grand Targhee Resort, Wyoming
Located on the western slope of the Tetons, the Grand Targhee Resort, located in Alta, Wyoming is nestled in the scenic Caribou-Targhee National Forest.
The resort offers overnight camping & parking for motorhomes and trailers alike. There is a fee for overnight RV parking with additional fees for more than one vehicle. No utilities or services are available, so RVs must be self-contained. Tent camping is allowed only for specific events. RV parking is restricted to a designated area. The maximum stay limit is seven consecutive nights. You are responsible for taking care of your own trash.
Squaw Valley, California
Squaw Valley Resort, in the North Lake Tahoe area of California, was the site of the Winter Olympics in 1960. This world-renowned resort spans over 6,000 skiable acres.
The resort offers a limited number of overnight RV parking spaces. Reservations are not accepted, so parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No long term parking is permitted and the length of your stay is at the discretion of the resort security.
Your RV must be self-contained as no utilities or services are available. You are responsible for carrying off your trash. You may be asked to move off the property during snow removal.
